AYG reports

This was my personal favourite.

No one knows about the mysterious No. 2 and 6,

except the members from the HKSS Soccer team.

Gloom is an understatement.

But the picture does not tell the whole story.

Sinagpore played well and restricted Thailand to long range shots.

Only problem...when the long range shot came,

the keeper couldn't handle them.

HKSS players amongst the group of players.

Can you spot them ?

Ammirul celebrating with his AYG team-mates.

Firduas is somewhere in there.

Firdaus trying to prvent an Iranian from scoring.

Ammirul and Firdaus tried in vain to stop the Iranian from scoring.

Blast from the Past...Part 7 (2006)

"C" Boys captain 2006, Gary Loo Zhan Quan

This photo was taken in Bangkok Thailand, Supanburi Sports School.

Gary's appointment was ground-breaking.

He was HKSS's first Chinese captain.

His peers were skeptical initially but he won them over through his hard work and sincerity.

His batch enjoyed little success espcially when 2005 was hugely successful.

3rd in the West Zone and 5 points in CL was almost unheard of for HKSS.

But it was a season in transition in many ways.

First, HKSS lost a player to S'pore Sports School before the season starts.

Then, HKSS lost 3 key players in crucial stage of CL.

1 broken arm, 1 broken wrist and one badly twisted knee.

Never once Gary complained.

He fought on and gave others around him hope to fight.

There were many games we knew we might have done better but lost.

He was there for to pick the players up.

Not only did he encouraged them,

he played anywhere the coach wanted just to help his team.

In the end, he played as a defender, midfielder and striker for the team.

He scored goals and kept the scoreline respectable.

He was also a decent keeper but HKSS didn't really use him in that area.

Throughout the nightmarish season, he fought and kept the team together.

Even up to the last CL game ,

he almost scored from a freekick against Sports School.

He was offered a place in Sports School when the season ended,

but decided to continue his studies in HKSS.

It was not difficult for him to decide.

He was an all-rounder who can play and study at a high level.

He wanted to be in the top express class in HKSS.

He wanted to get a good poly course through his own effort.

Also, he had to fight for his place in the U15 & U16 National squad.

He had to travel to Sports School to train with the NFA

and return home to complete his work & revision.

It was tough.

But he made it.

He help the Singapore U16 qualify for the AFC U16 competition during the prelim rounds.

He had to give up representing Singapore in 2008.

He wanted to do well for his "O" Levels.

In the end, it did not matter as he was accept by Ngee An Poly.

It was direct admission into Accounting faculty.

He scored 4 distinctions for his "O" level.

He is currently playing for the NFA U17 team

We wish him well in his future endeavour.

He will always be fondly remembered by all from HKSS.

Mr Ng remembers him for his leadership qualitites,

his perseverence in difficult moments,

his loyalty to the school,

his humility and good nature

and his charming smile that puts everyone at ease.
