HKSS players @ AYG

Singapore Vs China
HT: (0 : 2)
FT: (0 : 3)

Ammirul thought Singapore could at least score one goal against 10 men China.
It was not to be.

Firdaus marking a China player

China was playing with 10 men after their no. 18 was sent off for fouling Singapore no. 19.

China No. 18 brought Singapore No. 19 down just outside the box.

It was very harsh, China had 2 players chasing.
It should really be a yellow card at most.
The Chinese players were incensed by the referee's decision.

Singapore had an extra man and the chance to take the lead.
The free kick was excecuted poorly and the chance wasted.

Shortly after, China took the lead through their captain no. 10 Yan Peng.
China No. 10 scored again just before half time.
He completed his hattrick in the second half.

Try as Singapore might, the goals did not come.
Singapore players (5 footers) were out-sized by the 6 foot tall China defenders.

The stadium was very quiet after the second goal.

Singapore needed more fire power up front clearly.
While Sinagpore did not lose too badly for the 3 games,
the defensive approach did not bring victory to the country too.

It was sad to see Singapore only interested in playing well defending,
closing down the opponent and not be more positive in trying to score.

The crowd who came to support in the stadium knew that Sinagpore would score very few goals by the way the team was set up.

Most of the time Singapore played with 1 recognised striker
and flood the midfield at our homeground.
Singapore had 2 small strikers against China and did not make any impact during the game.
To be fair, the Singapore players tried their best.

Let's just hope there will be more attacking players with good size being involved to help Singapore score more goals for the YOG.

Ammirul and Firdaus played fairly well and can still improve.
Well done boys.

Singapore Vs Thailand
HT: (0 : 2)
FT: (1 : 4)

Hamzah looking disappointed.
He didn't get a chance to play.

Ammirul consoling another Sinagpore player.

Ammirul played well for Singapore defensively.

Too defensive throughout the tournament sometimes.

Sinagpore played really well against Thailand.

Singapore defended so well that Thailand did not get behind the defence.

Thailand captain had no choice but to try scoring from 25m to 30m away from goal.
It worked !
The Thais scored all 4 goals from long range,
2 directly through the middle,
2 tap-ins from free kicks.
Thai captain no. 10 had a foot in all 4 goals.

All the outfield players' hard work had came to nothing.

The 4 strikes were perhaps too hot for Singapore keeper to handle.

HKSS @ AYG (27 June 09)

Group photo of all the student volunteers from HKSS at Jalan Besar Stadium.
First day on the job & things went on quite smoothly.
It was a job well done.
Area for improvement:
The boys were not used to looking smart with their caps and school shorts.
They still do not fully undertsand that they will appear on TV,
and that they need to look good while performing their duty.
Let's hope things get better as the days go by.

Blast from the Past...Part 5 (2002)

C boys captain 2002
Fadzil was the most successful HKSS player in the history of West Zone tournament.
He was 5 times West Zone champions in HKSS (2001 - 2005).
He was selected to represent HKSS in 2001 when he was sec 1,
the year HKSS won it's first C Div national title.
He can play with both foot, good heading teachnique and a good reader of the game.
He was selected to play a striker's role in sec 1.
He once scored a perfect hattrick in 2001 during the West Zone tournament.
In 2002, he captained HKSS to the West Zone title.
He played as a centreback willingly for the team as the team needed one good centreback.
The 2002 team was good enough to be in the top 4.
They made a mistake in the national round 1 and ended as group runner up.
They got a tough draw in the quarter-finals and got eliminated.
Fadzil came back to say farewell in 2006 when he collected his "O" level result.

Blast from the Past...Part 4 (2003)

In my opinion, this was one of the more memorable trips.
Alot of day and night activities.
The more fun activities are the ones at night.
The boys could sing, laugh and make as much noise as they wanted to.
They can't do all that in a hotel !

Farewell Kluang.

Fazli Ayob used to make fun of how small the Sec 1s were.
He was this "big" when he was in Sec 1.
Now, he's much bigger of course.

Group photo with the teachers in Kluang and Staffs from our tour agents.

Morning assembly.
It was the time to praise and punish.
Good boys were rewarded and bad boys had their privileges taken away.
It was not a good way to start the day.
The boys were extremely cautious.
They don't want their names being called early in the morning.
Hungry ??
Night snack time !!

Boys cracking their heads in the bunk.
They were trying ot brainstorm for ideas for the camp fire night performance.

They loved their jackets.

Fun time with the other group members during camp fire.

There were no TVs at Kluang.
The boys had to entertain themselves.
Every group would have to perform their unique group songs before every activity.
The Guava song

We are the mangoes!

Blast from the Past...Part 2 (2007)

Most of these players are still studying in HKSS.
2007 was a transition year for HKSS.
A time for HKSS to make a comeback,
after missing out a top 4 position in the Champions League in 2006.

A shy looking Aziz.

So many jokers.
Once last cheer before kick off.

Jasvin suffering from cramps at full time.

A cheeky smile from Ariff.
2-2 draw against Victoria School.
HT : HKSS 0 : VS 2
FT : HKSS 2 : VS 2
It was a highy frustrating draw.
Though HKSS made a late comeback,
it wasn't enough to secue maximum points.
Victoria School went on to qualify for the 2007 finals.
A yellow card for a HKSS player.
A rare occurance that was captured by the quick minded cameraman.

Water break at half time.

What kind of attention is Yun Soon seeking ???

A serious moment before kick off.

HKSS super-sub no. 13.
He was not used to it initially but accepted his role in the team.
13 was not his favourite number but he respect the coach's decision.
In the end, Ariff scored 20 goals in 11 games for HKSS.
A good record but it was done in the most dramatic fashion.

Ariff sharing a drink with Ibrahim.
